Dave Castro announced changes to the 2022 CrossFit Games season for age-group athletes.
- The top 10% of age-group athletes from the Open advance to Quarterfinals.
- Then, the top 30 athletes from Quarterfinals go to Semifinals for each age division.
- From the Semifinals, only the top 10 athletes in each age group will be invited to compete at the CrossFit Games (compared to the top 20 athletes being invited in 2021.)
Dave also teased possible future changes:
“I’m super excited about this year’s format and the foundations leading towards potential future years, and honestly giving us the flexibility with maybe expanding, pulling some pieces out, giving them (age-group athletes) their own event, that’s a high priority."
