🍻✨ The Beer Guyz have reached the grand finale of their Des Moines craft brewery tour, and the journey concludes at the historic Court Avenue Restaurant & Brewing Company! 🚗🏛️ Des Moines' very first craft brewery, established in 1996, Court Avenue is nestled in the iconic Saddlery Building, a piece of history constructed in 1881 by Mr. J. Rubelman of Muscatine, Iowa.
This architectural gem initially served as a thriving saddlery, harness, and leather works under Rubelman's keen vision. Over the years, it transformed into a hub for various enterprises, from a shoe maker and rubber company to a stove manufacturer, glove company, the Krispy Kone Company, and even the Kaplan Hat Company (also the former name of the restaurant on the first floor). 🏢🎩
Surviving the challenges, including the devastating flood of 1993 that submerged the building in 19 feet of water, Court Avenue Restaurant & Brewing Company emerged in 1996, breathing new life into the historic space. The brew pub's decor and beer labels pay homage to the rich history of the building and brewing in Iowa, featuring spin-offs from old, defunct Iowa breweries that faded away during prohibition. 🍺🕰️
Dedicated to brewing beers of premium quality and character, Court Avenue uses traditional methods inspired by early American ancestors. Malted barley, hops, yeast, and pure water are the only ingredients in their craft, ensuring each brew is a testament to the finest natural elements.
