However, the true story behind the country, is a visceral will to survive the often harsh lifestyle and seek salvation elsewhere. Jozanne Marie shares her immigrant story with America's Podcaster, Kurt Caceres, moving to New York City at only 10 years old. Her father abandoned her before her first birthday and her mother had mental health issues, so she was raised by her grandmother, who pushed her to make the move to the states and live with her father. Little did Jozanne know that she would be stepping into the lions den, experiencing child abuse from her own father for six years until she finally ran away from home to escape the torture and prison of the abusive relationship. She continued to attend high school, even though she was living on the streets, homeless and penniless. Her story is one for the ages, with an unwavering determination and foundation of inspiration for young boys and girls across the planet. Millions of youth experience abuse daily, often feeling alone and guilty. Jozanne is here to tell them otherwise. To ignite that fire, spark that motivation and help others rise from the ashes.
