Here are 3 things that stood out as Paul O’Hanlon shared a patient’s perspective on healthcare:

Sometimes, patients need more than just monitoring. They need to be led through the healthcare process and system. Medical professionals can provide the guidance that patients might need.
Many healthcare heroes are unsung. They are the nurses and other staff members who provide compassionate care and support.
Medical professionals (and people in general) make assumptions about people with disabilities that are inaccurate. Often times, they have lowered expectations for anyone that has a disability. Paul has advocated for people to develop a more nuanced and personal understanding of the disability population.
