Whether it’s your business or a relationship, how do you know it’s a sinking ship? As human beings, we are driven by our emotions. We easily get attached to people and things and then we have a hard time realizing it’s time to let go.
Today, I’m sharing some insights into how to start recognizing that you’re in a sinking ship. If you want to go to a level after next, you've got to jump ship – and do it at the right time.

When the really important crew members start jumping ship – fast turnover, your bonus going away, or great people leaving for other companies – it's a pretty good sign that something's not going well. If there's water coming in, it's a sign that things are not going well.
In a business, it's important that everybody feels safe. Companies go under because of their inability to change direction. They can't fix their ship because they don't want to admit that something's going wrong.

No business is unsinkable. Therefore, take full and complete responsibility not only for yourself and your happiness but for your future. You have to put in the work to keep your business afloat. That’s going to look different for every business. But are you doing that?
Whether it's having conversations, running numbers, sharing on social media, responding back to people, or customer care follow-up – you have to show up, and show up consistently.

Being positive and forward-thinking are great strengths every leader should have, but not to the point that they become idealistic to a fault.
