Welcome to the "BE 1 CHANGE 1" Podcast, the ultimate destination for transformative conversations, brought to you by CAS and Roscoe. As the Defense Department celebrates military children in April, we delve into the unique challenges and invaluable lessons that accompany growing up in a military family.

With over 1.6 million military children navigating through unique circumstances due to their parents' service, it's a journey filled with distinctive experiences. Military families relocate approximately every two to three years, often overseas — a reality that inevitably affects military children's schooling and support networks.

In this episode, we draw parallels between these experiences and the core themes of the BE 1 CHANGE 1 podcast, discussing the exceptional challenges and lessons military children encounter, including resilience, sacrifice, and adaptability.

  • Military children develop resiliency, adaptability, and self-reliance due to frequent moves and changes in their lives.
  • They are exposed to different cultures and perspectives through living in various locations.
  • Military children experience a sense of community and camaraderie within military families.
  • They face unique challenges and have difficult conversations at a young age.
  • The upbringing of military children shapes their character and prepares them for the realities of life. Military children have strong bonds with their siblings and value family.
  • They are exposed to diversity and different cultures, which helps them become more open-minded and adaptable.
  • Military children learn sacrifice and resilience as they have to leave friends and familiar environments behind with each move.
  • They develop confidence in meeting new people and have a positive attitude towards change.
  • There can be downsides, such as loneliness and the emotional impact of deployments.

To all the current and former military children, and parents tuning into our podcast, we salute and thank you for your invaluable contribution to this family and our nation. Be the change, Be the One!
