It Takes Love to Know What Matters
“And this is my prayer, that your love may overflow more and more with knowledge and full insight to help you to determine what really matters…” from Philippians 1:9-10
We have decisions to make. Who do we want to be? Where do we want to be. What do we want to do? With whom do we want to be? In other words, we have to decide what really matters to us.
If we are not rooted and grounded, filled and overflowing with love, we are most likely doing the wrong things, in the wrong places, with the wrong people, at the wrong times.
Positive decisions are not long sustained from negative impulses. We can’t make our best decisions from anger or fear, jealousy, resentment, pride, lust or greed.
All our decisions must originate from the certainty that we are all fully known and fully loved. And in response to that love we decide how to live in a way that honors God, ourselves, and our neighbors as ourselves.
It takes love to know what really matters.
