No matter who you are, no matter what you do, no matter how well you do what you do, there will be critics and haters particularly if you are doing anything of significance.
Jesus was criticized. Martin Luther King, jr. was criticized. Mother Teresa was criticized. Heck even one of the greatest and most successful singer songwriters of all time, Paul McCartney, was criticized.
Despite his immense popularity and nearly unparalleled success there were folk who tried to dismiss, diminish and belittle his music saying he wrote soppy love songs. Paul’s answer to them is a great model for us:
“Well, I know what they mean, but, people have been doing love songs forever. I like 'em, other people like 'em, and there's a lot of people I love -- I'm lucky enough to have that in my life…”
So he wrote and sang the lyrics “What’s wrong with that? I’d like to know. Because here I go again. I love you.” And it spent five weeks at number one.
Answer your critics and haters with your own silly love song.
