For our third episode in this SG Small Business series, please welcome your friendly neighborhood publicist Kosi Harris.
Before I started working with Kosi, I really didn’t understand the difference between PR and marketing. Thankfully I had Kosi to explain that to me, and luckily now you do, too!
I’ve been fortunate enough to work with Kosi in different ways over the past few years, and I’m really glad you get to meet her now. If you’re considering expanding your business with publicity, I hope this episode gives you some insight into questions to ask yourself ahead of time and ways to get your business ready for PR.
If you have any questions or would like to inquire about working with her, please follow Kosi at @kosi_harris_pr.
Have a great week, and stay nerdy!
Special thanks to our executive producers for this episode Galaxy Gear Boutique, Kal-Elle, LoganArch, and Karen Hallion.

This week’s episode is sponsored by the wonderful geeky illustrator Karen Hallion. Click here to check out her beautiful art and her Patreon! This episode marks the beginning of a special series dedicated to our geeky small business owners. Each week for the next (?) weeks, we’re chatting with fellow nerdy business owners about the behind the scenes of running their brands. Our hope is to help each other prepare for the holiday season and feel less alone in this chaotic journey of entrepreneurship. First up is Rose del Vecchio, co-founder of FanMailBox and Charmed: Box of Shadows . In this episode Rose and I discuss the different forms our business ownership has taken: as a hobby, as a full time job, and as a side gig while working various hourly/salaried positions. We talk about the difficulties in trying to have enough time and energy to do *everything* as well as the perceived shame in not running your business full time. I hope this conversation is helpful to anyone trying to navigate how to pay themselves while also following their dreams. And if there’s anything specific you’d like us to cover in this series, please let me know! Have a great week, and stay nerdy. This week we want to thank VIP Patreon supporters Amy, Don, Dominique, Kaitlyn, Cammie, and Ann. Thanks for keeping The Sartorial Geek running! Thank you, NW Nerd, for sponsoring today’s episode! NW Nerd is a podcast chronicling the people and the passions that make geek life so great. These are the stories that make us nerds. Listen wherever you listen to podcasts and follow online at @nw_nerd. Music fans, we think you’re going to love today’s guest: Sidewalk Furniture . Sidewalk Furniture is an angry nerd-rock band based in Durham NC. Their first full album, “Reimagined Thrill,” released just about a year ago in April. The album features a heavy punk sound with simple yet hard-hitting riffs and fun lyrics centered around sci-fi themes that relate to real-life experiences: queer culture, feminism, and relationships. The heart and soul of Sidewalk Furniture was conceived in 2014 by Riley (vocals), Shelby (bass), and Shante (guitar) while they attended college, and originally started out as a folk band. They were later joined by drummer Lily Fey in 2019, who aided in drastically improving their sound and message. Over the years, they've shared the stage with great bands such as Candy Ambulance, [SiTH] Clan, Crunk Witch, GAMMA GAMMA RAY, and many more. You can listen/buy their album in a number of places: Bandcamp , Spotify , iTunes , Google Play , and iHeartRADIO . We also have a special giveaway for you on Instagram !
