I spoke with Janet Perez Eckles this week on the Women Influencers podcast. She is
an author, international speaker, radio host, and founder of JC Empowerment ministries. We spoke about how she overcame losing her sight to Retinitis Pigmentosa at the age of 30 and became a powerhouse of motivation.
We discussed her family’s immigration to the U.S. from Bolivia to get away from the revolutions and adversity when Janet was only 12. During her last year of college she met her first husband and they went on to have 3 children. Unfortunately, when her boys were 3, 5, and 7, Janet’s eyesight began to worsen until she was left totally blind. Despite this and many other challenges she faced, Janet was able to find solace in God’s word.
She decided that although she had blindness, blindness didn’t have her. She focused on taking care of her boys and moving forward. This led her to become a Spanish/English interpreter, and her tenacity led her to rise the ranks and become a trainer of interpreters.
Now, she is a best-selling author and motivational speaker.
