In 1924, the Little Lava Lake triple homicide occurred in Deschutes County, Oregon, with the victims being Edward Nickols, Roy Wilson, and Dewey Morris, who were fur trappers. Their bodies were discovered months later, showing signs of gunshot wounds and blunt force trauma. Despite a potential suspect, no one was prosecuted. The three men had been residing in a remote lakeside cabin, trading care for valuable foxes in exchange for winter shelter. A visitor reported their well-being before their sudden disappearance. Investigation led to a suspect, Charles Kimzey, an escaped convict with a motive, who was eventually apprehended but not definitively linked to the murders. Various theories and speculations surround this unsolved case, making it one of Oregon's oldest mysteries.
