Latisha Schmitt is the real deal! She speaks about her own bias she identified and how this bias is embarrassing to admit. Our conversations on the Culture Evolution carried over to Part 2 with Latisha as we learn about the terms ‘conscious inclusion,’ and ‘intersectionality.’ She has learned as a facilitator for the Senn Delaney Culture Evolution Workshops that associates like hearing about ‘real-life’ experiences from their leaders. She is passionate about her work as a Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) Lifestyle coach where she has made a difference for over a dozen associates and still continues this important lifestyle coaching. Latisha is a highly efficient contributor to her work for Humana, a dynamic presenter, and volunteers in her community. Her kind demeanor and her warm smile are the icings on the cake to a person that pours herself into empowering others to be their best. Yes, Latisha Schmitt is the real deal! She is a Certified Diversity Professional (CDP) and currently leads the Inclusion and Diversity strategy for the IT organization. In her role she champions change, challenges the status quo, and creates opportunities to leverage the unique characteristics, talents, and backgrounds of our IT associates. She will celebrate 16 years at Humana in June 2019, and previously lead the Corporate Web Systems Team and later, the IT Audit, Process, and Compliance Team. Prior to joining Humana, she was a Microsoft Certified Trainer and Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer. Latisha has a passion for leadership development and mentoring, and enjoys facilitating sessions about personal and professional development. She is engaged in leading initiatives inside and outside the organization; including the Women in Technology chapter of the WNRG, serves as a Mentor in IT, leads the IT partnership with JCPS Academies of Louisville, and is a member of the Women Influencing Louisville Board. She is also a Certified Culture Evolution Workshop facilitator and a Diabetes Prevention Program Lifestyle Coach. During the winter months, she spends her weekends cheering on her 7 and 12 year old boys at their basketball games and in summer they enjoy family bike rides around the Louisville parks.
