Julian Michael's journey began in South Central L.A., where he was deeply involved in the church and initially on a path to becoming a minister. After earning a degree in religion and working in a Southern Baptist Church, Julian experienced a life-altering shift when he moved to New York, came out as gay, and left the ministry behind. Seeking new purpose, he found it in stand-up comedy, starting with open mics and eventually becoming a regular at the Comic Strip in New York.
