Capitalism is Collaborative

Get comfy and let’s unpack it, there’s a lot happening there and if you do not think it affects you here, well, you’re wrong and it will do so even more soon. On this episode of Sound of Black and Brown, "Capitalism is Collaborative”. Tune in, listen as thoughts are shared. Black people do self harm, resist recovery treatment, drop out of school, but also why there’s adult bullying, discrimination and bias in supposedly anti-racist spaces including activism, advocacy, nonprofits and government. But why would those people exploit those in need, empower only who they like and support only who they approve of? Sounds kinda…capitalistic, because it is. Ego and agenda have always been the oppressor’s favorite tools and don’t think saying you’re progressive or democratic means you really care. Although Dr. Antoinette Bailey was phenomenal in her role, she had to be badly reviewed, and apparently nobody cared too much about her mental wellness while she was being bullied, gatekept and gaslit. How many more before people say and really mean #NotOneMore? Wonder what Tupac or Fred Hampton would say about it all.
Also, if you were not aware, despite the aforementioned groups claiming to be socio-economically vested, in truth, capitalism works well with Darwinism so as in other economic stances, they now survive to be the fittest, by any means necessary. An influential line of analysis suggests that the best way to improve that performance is to allocate more resources via markets and intensify competition in them, following a path blazed by the United States. The argument is that greater prosperity can be secured only at the cost of higher inequality.
But why would people exploit those in need, empower only who they like and support only certain programs and initiatives? Why would they say they’re all about humanity, health, wellness, justice, community, all those things and more, but bully, gaslight and gatekeep some in the community because they deserved it? Then show up at talks, webinars, rallies etc holding up signs, talking righteous, seeking spotlight and recognition. Sounds kinda…capitalistic, because it is. Ego and agenda have always been the oppressor’s favorite tools and don’t think saying you’re progressive or democratic means you really care. If you haven’t lately, look into all the support services and opportunities from recovery houses, to homeless shelters, food pantries, schools and extracurricular programs and activities which have lost and continue to lose funding, as well as the jobs lost.
