#87: Bitches Brew by Miles Davis (with our special guest, Nick Maia!)
Manage episode 358962475 series 3123818
In honor of the 40th anniversary of the original release of Bitches Brew, Miles Davis' 1970 paradigm-shifting landmark fusion breakthrough, Dogfish Head Brewery created their own Bitches Brew -- a dark beer that's a fusion of three threads of imperial stout and one thread of honey beer with gesho root. It's a gustatory analog to Miles' masterpiece. This is important because today's guest gifted a bottle of this vintage ale to Mike and Ben in preparation for this recording! Nick Maia is a police officer, beer collector, and jazz-loving trumpet player. What better person could we have found for this unique and experimental album from Miles Davis' massive catalog?
