For our final episode in our visit to the Jurassic Coast, we're looking at one of the most remarkable people to have made the area their home. Mary Anning was born to a humble, impoverished family and had to begin working at a young age to help support her parents and eight siblings. She developed a keen eye for fossils and other curiosities buried in the sand and went on to become arguably the biggest pioneer of early palaeontology. Her numerous discoveries would have earned her widespread scientific acclaim and recognition, but for the circumstances of her birth and life.
