Benching is basically a dating trend where someone ‘keeps you on the bench as a backup’ in case their first dating pick doesn’t come through. This is a terrible dating trend for men because a lot of women will hedge their bets to try to keep from ending up ‘lonely’ if their first-string guy doesn’t ask them out as planned.
