So SSD Vs HDD Hard Drive for Graphic designers, what is the difference between the two and what is best for your laptop or computer. It comes down to two important details... ►►► Check out the gear discussed in the video links below... Computer with SSD and HDD Combo ► VivoBook Pro ( https://amzn.to/2JrXz5I ) ► HP Omen ( https://amzn.to/2RiTXpo ) ► MSI GS63 Stealth ( https://amzn.to/2OfcwbZ ) External Solid State Hard Drives ► Lacie External SSD ( https://amzn.to/2AAgfNO ) ► Samsung External SSD ( https://amzn.to/2OXaLW9 ) Computers with SSD Only ► Gigabyte Aero 15 ( https://amzn.to/2CPc0zo ) ► MacBook Pro 15 ( https://amzn.to/2DfV6Lo ) ► Dell XPS 15 ( https://amzn.to/2ObuCM8 ) In this video, I want to answer some questions I receive on the channel concerning solid state hard drives vs hard disk drives. A lot of people are wondering the differences between SSD and HDD. Graphic designers are wondering what is best for their laptops and computers. Which type of hard drive should they get? Should they get 256GB of Hard Drive storage or 4TB? Is SSD really more reliable than HDD? Let's jump into it! What is the difference between a solid state hard drive and a hard disk drive? A Solid State Hard Drive has no moving parts. Think about a small USB Drive, Thumb drive, or Memory stick (whatever you refer to them as). This is basically a miniature Solid State Hard Drive. You can add files to it, erase the files, format the drive, etc... and there are no moving parts to perform these actions. The HDD or Hard Disk Drive, however, uses a small disk, a tiny eye (to read the disk) and an arm to move the eye across the disk as it spins round and round. This is how memory is stored, retrieved and then erased. So on each type of drive how is this information retrieved, saved, written, erased, etc... I will give you two scenarios to visualize this process. 1. The Hard Disk Drive: Imagine that I want to know how to spell the word ambiguous, but I am unsure how to spell the word. Is it Ambigus, or Ambiguoos, perhaps it is ahmbiguos...? I look towards my bookshelf spot the Thesaurus or dictionary on the shelf, get up, walk across the room, grab the thesaurus, flip open to the A's and find the word ambiguous with its proper spelling. 2. The Solid State Hard Drive: In this same scenario I want to find out how to spell ambiguous. But rather than getting up and grabbing a thesaurus off the shelf I simply pull out my iPhone and search ambiguous definition. I was not required to get up and search for this information with moving action. I simply search for the result where I was sitting. So let me ask you. Which search technique gave me a faster result. The SSD model. With no moving parts, the storage is not required to "Find" the piece of information. It is simply there and ready to retrieve when searched upon. Another important factor to SSD Hard Drives vs HDD Hard Drives is that they are far more reliable. With no moving parts, the hard drives are FAR LESS likely to crash, wear out, or malfunction. This is very important to me as a graphic designer. I often am working on projects that I CANNOT afford to lose. So having the reliability of an SSD hard drive is extremely reassuring as I am working on my projects.
