Friday feels like it’s ready for us…maybe. We’re congratulating a new Dealer, following up on some of yesterday’s stories, and sharing a video that is guaranteed to to make you laugh…and maybe cry.

  • Follow up on yesterday’s NADA Data courtesy of NADA Academy Management Instructor, Michael Lucki:
    • “On our NADA data report, personnel is split between new and used salespeople as that is how it is on the financial statement. So the totals are independent of each other. Used=137/12. New =102/12. So if you were set up as used the average was 11.4. New average was 8.5. This number peaked in 2020 and has been on the way down the last 2 years. Let me know if you want to discuss further. I enjoy listening to your show. Keep up the good work.”
  • This video from the Verge summarizing Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s keynote at their recent I/O conference is too good not to share on a Friday.
    • We asked AI for the 5 best us cars of all time:
    • Ford Model T: The granddaddy of all cars, the Model T made cars a thing. Over 15 million sold, and it practically invented road trips!
    • Chevrolet Impala: This beauty was America's sweetheart in the '60s. It's had its ups and downs, but we still love it!
    • Ford F-Series: America's tough-guy truck for over 40 years. It's like the Hulk of vehicles - strong, reliable, and green (eco-friendly)!
    • Toyota Camry: The Camry's like your trusty best friend. It's got your back, always reliable, and loves long drives on the highway.
    • Honda Accord: Affordable, efficient, and just plain sensible, the Accord's been the go-to family car for decades. It's like the comfort food of cars!

  • Elon Musk is set to step down as Twitter CEO, with a new chief executive slated to take over in six weeks. Musk, remaining as the executive chairman and CTO, hints that a woman will fill the CEO role, with rumors pointing to NBCUniversal advertising exec Linda Yaccarino.
    • With Musk's reduced role at Twitter, concerns from Tesla investors about his divided attention could be alleviated, allowing him to devote more time to his EV brand
      • Which by the way raised prices on all vehicles except the Model 3
    • He tweeted “Excited to announce that I’ve a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks! My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops.”
    • Tesla stock is up 3.5% on the news
