In this homily given on Sunday August 20, 2023, Fr Mathias applies Isaiah's prophecy about the Temple being a "house of prayer for all peoples" to the Church and St Pat's church sanctuary for Sunday Mass. The church sanctuary is to be a place of prayer in which we can encounter the living God and be a place where visitors, guests and strangers can be welcomed and loved as they search for God. Unlike the homily series on the Mass (December 2021) in which how to pray in the Mass is covered, the practical considerations in this homily reinforce both that the church sanctuary is a holy place of prayer and that we need to be loving toward those who come to Mass to seek God.
