We live in a more divided world than ever. From politics to identity issues to generational gaps, our culture loves to highlight all the ways that we are different from one another. But Jesus offers a different way. A better way.
My name is Quentin and I’m one of the pastors here at Sherwood Oaks.
Jesus came onto the scene in a time full of many of the same issues we face today. His people were divided amongst themselves, and society was full of gaps in status, wealth, and culture. But he gently guided his followers into a life that modeled true unity by loving those that others had deemed “unworthy”.
In his final hours, he prayed these powerful words over those who would become The Church:
“I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”
Jesus called his Church to live in unity so that others would see them and say “I want that kind of life!”
