Critical Thinking - Was D-Day really the turning point of WW2 (Part 1)?
Black Spy Podcast Season 15, Episode 0004
This week’s Black Spy Podcast turns its attention to the D-Day, WW2 and wars in general.
On the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, which occurred on the 6th of June in 1944, we see that the event has been utilised to distort to an even greater extent, the actual relevance of the event for geo-political purposes.
Carlton asks listeners to consider WW2 in its entirety so they can then assess the relevance of D-Day to the overall war effort.
Carlton notes that there is little doubt, and it is totally factual, that the D-Day landings represented the largest and indeed greatest amphibious military landings of all time - which Carlton argues will probably never be repeated.
What Carlton discusses however, is the relevance of the D-Day landings to the overall defeat of Nazi Germany and its allies in Europe, during the conflict.
Consequently, if you have an interest in the brave men and indeed women who fought in WW2 in any branch of the war effort, such as Carlton’s father, then you too must listen to these episodes. This is not least the case, because Carlton rejects the propaganda citizens have been feed since the end of WW2, as to which country actually primarily defeated Nazi Germany. Carlton also provides individuals with information most will never have considered about WW2’s casualty figures.
These are must listen episodes for anybody with the slightest interest in geo-politics.
