Some apps offer points that can be redeemed as a price break on subsequent purchases, or cash. it all started back in 1986....Sears is the first to introduce the concept of “cash back” with its Discover card. then websites like retailmenot was established in 2006 to aggregate coupon offers and make them available to consumers. today there are many (probably dozens) of cash back apps that turn purchases into points that will then either give you money or gift cards to use on future purchases....those are sites like fetch, ibotta, and rakuten....nerdwallet has a more extenstive list.
