In the thirteenth episode of "Divine Guidance," Duane Sheriff teaches about being led by the Holy Spirit, focusing on desire and godly counsel. These are some key indicators that we hear God's voice.
When we delight in the Lord, He gives us the desires of our hearts (Psalm 37:4). This doesn't mean God grants our selfish wishes, but rather that He aligns our desires with His will as we seek Him. As we draw closer to God, our desires naturally change and match His plan.
Duane shares from his personal experience how his desires shifted from pursuing a tennis career to wanting to attend Bible school and teach the gospel. He encourages listeners that as they focus on their relationship with Jesus, God will place His desires in their hearts.
Godly counsel is a confirmation of God's leading. Proverbs 11:14 states, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." While the Holy Spirit should lead us, godly counsel can help confirm what God is saying to us, especially for significant life decisions.
