Trust, human connection, belonging, and influence are some of Jon Levy's areas of expertise. I’ve never seen someone spend so much time intentionally cultivating meaningful friendships. And that’s what I really like about Jon’s work. He’s a behavioral scientist, New York Times bestselling author and creator of moments of delight. In his events, people can show up as humans, leaving behind their resumes and accolades to connect to other humans.

Networking feels dirty (but having friends is necessary), and the relationship between influence, connection, and fulfillment are some topics covered in our conversation. Jon also explains the difference between influence and audience, why belongingness is sometimes more important than food, the power paradox, and the importance of building a community and cultivating relationships. Humans can’t survive without each other, and Jon makes that point abundantly clear.

“Networking is not the way to go. The fact of the matter is that we don’t like the idea that we are building a relationship just to “use” somebody or gain something. We evolved as a species because we put effort into each other, and there’s a natural give and take. And that’s what really makes us happy.” - Jon Levy

In This Episode:

- What led Nik and Jon to create crazy adventures together?

- A little background of Jon’s work — how he helps big companies transform the way they approach marketing and sales.

- Jon's earliest dreams and how they have evolved over the years

- Why do people hate networking? Let’s hear Jon’s thought-provoking idea.

- How to make an impact and influence others the “right” way

- Why belonging and valued relationships are part of the higher order of needs

- The Power Paradox: How people’s behavior changes depending on their success

- The inverse relationship between money and community

- How external validation can harm your authenticity

- Why relationships are the number one key to success

- How to create a genuine relationship with others

- Jon’s dream beyond
