Jacksonville, FL– 34-year-old Tasheka Young was a devoted single mother of two children a 1-year-old daughter, and a 3-year-old son, whom she absolutely adored. Tasheka was also a beloved Radio Personality widely known as “Tysheeks” at Power 106.1 Tru Hip Hop Station. Tasheka’s life from the outside looking in was nearly perfect, but many in her inner circle knew about the toxic relationship and incidents of domestic violence that she suffered at the hands of her kids' father, and lover 35-year-old, Bursey Armstrong.
On July 23, 2022, a 911 call from a concerned downstairs neighbor claimed she heard loud stomping coming from upstairs in Tasheka’s apartment around 1:30am followed by a loud banging noise, the caller goes on to say that she heard a woman say - “I love you, don't do this” followed by what she thought were gunshots, and then silence. The next day, Tasheka’s mother conducted a welfare check after Bursey Armstrong reached out to her, stating that he hadn't been able to get in contact with Tasheka. Tasheka's mother discovered her daughter’s lifeless body in the bedroom of her apartment. The children had been left alone in the residence for more than 14 hours unattended.
What was even more shocking was that Tasheka was 4 months pregnant with her third child at the time of her murder.
