It was approaching the 9th hour (3PM Jerusalem time, 8 AM EST) The skies are completely darkened and look ominous. In the Temple a lamb is about to be slaughtered for the sins of the Nation it will be signified by the blow of the Shofar.
At that moment Jesus cried out with a loud voice My God, My God, why have you forsaken me.”
The gospel of Luke records Jesus crying out: Father, into you hands I commit my spirit. After he said this he breathed his last.
Off in the distance the shofar was heard being blown.
SHOFAR SOUND - Begin EARTHQUAKE - Lightening
At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split 52 and the tombs broke open.
