Both major political parties agree that social media is causing young people harm with the Government pledging to ban under 16s from using social media platforms in a world first.

Social media companies like Meta say they are committed to protecting children on their platforms but believe parents want more control over their childrens online habits.Meta's Mia Garlick says Meta has a number of age controls in place already, but says the "challenge is the technology isn't quite there yet in terms of having a perfect solution."
