One of the most popular topics in the Bible is end times, and the disciples ask Jesus, "When will this be?" In the series, Chosen, Jesus replies, "Soon." Mark and Dave dive into what this means.
SHOW NOTES:
Scholars have identified 1,845 references in the Old Testament alone, referencing Christs second coming.

In fact, references to Christs second coming outnumbers references to his first coming by a factor of eight to one (according to a study and podcast article by David Jeremiah).

In the 260 chapters of the New Testament, there are 318 references to the second advent of Christ—an amazing 1 out of every 30 verses. Twenty-three of the 27 New Testament books refer to this great event. For every prophecy in the Bible concerning Christ’s first advent, there are 8 which look forward to His second!

While we will not go into everyone of these references, for those that wish to do so, can find a wealth of research on the topic by visiting Doctor David Jeremiah’s website. Additionally, you will find a treasure trove of charts and commentary in visiting

According to John Walvoord in his article entitled John Walvoord - Christ’s Olivet Discourse on the End of the Age—Part III: Signs of the End of the Age)….

The second coming will be a very public event. Everybody will see Him. The rapture of the church may be an event that is quite unseen by the world. Although the Bible never calls it a secret rapture because it is not a secret at least to Christians, it will take place very quickly. First Corinthians 15:52 speaks of the rapture as taking place “in the twinkling of an eye.” The world possibly will only be dimly aware that something has happened until it is all over.

2 Peter 3:3-10, 13-15

”Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.” For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water. But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.”

“But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.”

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.”

“But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless, and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation

2 Peter 3:3-10, 13-15

Biblical prophecy provides some of the greatest encouragement and hope available to us today.

Just as the Old Testament is saturated with prophecies concerning Christ’s first advent, so both testaments are filled with references to the Second Coming of Christ.
