Dance Like Everyone Is Watching : Beating Cancer and Fulfilling Your Purpose Through Inclusion
Manage episode 327039117 series 2923142
After being featured in Drake's One Dance video, I was left breathless with Musa Motha.
Not by what is obvious but by the power behind what Musa wants to communicate to the world - that dance has the power to change us in ways that we can’t remain the same people after a moving performance.
Musa is a South African dancer, filmmaker, choreographer, and motivational speaker. In 2006, at 11 years old, Musa was diagnosed with bone cancer, as a result of which his left leg had to be amputated. Before this tragic event, Musa was into soccer and dreamed of one day becoming a professional player. After this illness, Musa accepted that he would not be able to pursue the dream of being a professional soccer player. However, Musa Mothe believed that when one door closes, there is certainly always a window left open.
My name is IJ Popoola and I'm the host of Mrs. IJ's Kids Inclusive Podcast, a show focusing on the challenges of inclusive education for students with disabilities, as well as providing resources for parents, caregivers, educators, and all stakeholders in the African diaspora and in African Nations. In this show, we focus on the possibilities of fully inclusive educational practices in general education classrooms, globally.
