Worin besteht eigentlich der Unterschied zwischen jemandem, der mich in Sachen Lebensführung unterrichten kann und mir wohlmeinend Rat anbietet und einem Rattenfänger, der mich hinter das Licht, also ins Dunkel führt? Warum nehmen bestimmte Figuren in den Weisheitstraditionen eine besondere Stellung ein, werden verehrt und warum wird ihnen nachgeeifert? Besitzen Weisheitslehrerinnen und Weisheitslehrer einen intimen Zugang zum Übernatürlichen?
Im Podcast sprechen Michael Hampe und Zen-Meister Alexander Poraj exemplarisch darüber, wie der historische Buddha sich und seine Tätigkeit selbst verstanden hat und wie daraus allerhand Schulen und Lehrverhältnisse abgeleitet wurden. Shakyamuni Buddha kritisierte vor allem hinduistische Gurutraditionen, welche den Menschen versprächen, den Weg zu leiten auf eine Treppe zu Palästen, die kein Mensch je gesehen habe. Lässt sich davon womöglich ein erfahrungsbasiertes, ja ein aufgeklärtes Weisheitsverständnis ablesen?

What is the difference between someone who can teach me how to live my life and offer me well-meaning advice and a pied piper who leads me behind the light, i.e. into darkness? Why do certain figures occupy a special position in the wisdom traditions, why are they revered and why are they emulated? Do wisdom teachers have intimate access to the supernatural?
In the podcast, Michael Hampe and Zen master Alexander Poraj talk about how the historical Buddha understood himself and his work and how all kinds of schools and teaching relationships were derived from this. Shakyamuni Buddha criticized Hindu guru traditions in particular, which promised to lead people up a stairway to palaces that no one had ever seen. Does this perhaps reflect an experience-based, even enlightened understanding of wisdom?
