As we dissect the oversight that led to her drinking fatal amounts of water, we're left to ponder the responsibilities of those charged with care.
Then, we turn our gaze to Mississippi's dark underbelly, where over 800 individuals languish in uncertified jails, awaiting psychiatric treatment. With only one jail meeting state standards, we expose the systemic failure that leaves the mentally ill shackled, untreated, and forgotten. As we navigate through the state's legal loopholes and the shocking absence of care, we are confronted with a stark reality: the intersection of mental health and the justice system is fraught with peril.
