The Marlins committed a season-high four errors, Max Meyer gave up a home run for the 10th time in 12 starts, and the Colorado Rockies pounded the Marlins 8-2.

The Rockies (50-84) have won two of the three games in this series, but the Marlins (48-85 ) lead the season series 4-2 with just tomorrow's game remaining.

The Rockies are 1 1/2 games ahead of the Marlins in the two-team battle to stay out of last place in the National League.

Derek Hill homered for Miami, 6-15 in its last 21 games. Hill connected for a home run leading off the second.

Kyle Freeland went six innings for the Rockies, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out six Miami hitters.

Nolan Jones hit two RBI singles, Drew Romo added two hits and an RBI, and Ezequiel Tovar added a two-run double.

Colorado scored three more in the sixth, with more help from the Marlins defense. Jones hit his second RBI single then scored when shortstop Otto Lopez threw threw home and threw the ball away.

Cristian Pache mishandled Romo’s third-inning single to center, allowing Romo to advance to second. Romo scored when Meyer’s threw the pickoff throw into right-center field.

Meyer (3-4) lasted innings, giving up five hits and five runs, four earned. He struck out six and walked four. Meyer has given up at least one home run in all but two of his twelve starts.

Before the game, the Marlins sent RHP Roddery Muñoz to Triple-A Jacksonville. Munoz was blasted by the Rockies yesterday.

The Marlins are 4-2 against the Rockies this season. The Rockies are up 2-1 in this series.

The two teams wrap up their season series tomorrow with game four of this one. The Marlins will start RHP Valente Bellozo (2-2, 3.35 ERA) against the Rockies' Bradley Blaylock. (1-0, 3.06)
