It came as a shock on May 31 when the University of the Arts suddenly announced it would be shuttering in just a week amid hidden financial troubles. The school president would resign only a few days later. Even worse, it had just welcomed students for its summer term, and those with only a few credits left had to go elsewhere to finish their degrees if they could. KYW Newsradio’s Nigel Thompson followed the collapse of the Philly arts institution as the shock turned to sadness, then anger.
