Episode 26: Chris the Sitcom Writer – ED & FRIENDS
Manage episode 159506365 series 1181560
Chris Gau, the co-writer and producer of hit Channel 5 sitcom Borderline (along with Michael Orton-Tolliver) joins Ed on an extraordinarily hot day where they talk it out, sweat it out and discuss the process of making a comedy about UK Border Control.
Chris had moved in with his parents to focus on writing every day. When his writing partner was stopped at airport customs they began the two year journey to bring Borderline to life. It has since gone on to be a success with audiences and critics alike, and has even been renewed for season 2! Chris and Ed talk about the show’s unconventional methodology, the role of improvisation in the scripting process both before and after casting, and the inevitable comparisons to comedy juggernaut The Office. That, plus Ed and Chris track the temperature in the room by unconventional means.
