Today all four Junior Research classes combined for one massive critique that went through half of the Junior Class work. Next week we will do the same. I found it a bit overwhelming to talk during people's critiques because it turned into people debating over people's work which I found annoying. I did speak to some classmates afterward and they said they were not a fan of the critique as a whole because it wasn't that helpful hearing things from new people. I think the issue is that most people do not know how to properly critique. Everyone says what they want to see in the work and offer suggestions which are hardly helpful at all to the person who made the work. Rarely do people just read the work. There were times during this 2:00 to 6:20 PM block where I found myself wondering if this was a waste of time. In the last part of this episode, I recorded a full 12-minute critique so that you can understand what these sound like and how they go.
