But did you realize you probably trash talk yourself more than anybody else? Perhaps more than you realize? Negative self-talk will make it nearly impossible to close your own 18-inch gap and I don’t want to see you in that situation. Today we will look at 15 ways you can sabotage yourself and how you can change that. But first the quote of the week: Be careful how you’re talking to yourself because you are listening. Lisa Hayes Points covered: Here is a list of 15 ways negative self-talk can be destructive, along with the positive self-talk solutions for each: 1. Negative Self-Talk: "I'm not good enough for this job." 2. Negative Self-Talk: "I always mess things up." 3. Negative Self-Talk: "I'll never be successful." 4. Negative Self-Talk: "I'm not as talented as others." 5. Negative Self-Talk: "Nothing ever goes right for me." 6. Negative Self-Talk: "I don't deserve happiness." 7. Negative Self-Talk: "I'm always going to fail." 8. Negative Self-Talk: "I'm too old (or young) to achieve this." 9. Negative Self-Talk: "Nobody likes me." 10. Negative Self-Talk: "I can't handle this stress." 11. Negative Self-Talk: "I'm always unlucky." 12. Negative Self-Talk: "I can't change; this is just who I am." 13. Negative Self-Talk: "I'm a failure." 14. Negative Self-Talk: "I don't have the energy to do this." 15. Negative Self-Talk: "I'll never be happy." Positive Self-Talk: Each and every point listed above has a positive point that can be used to counter the negative talk.
