Band of Gold! A chat with Freda Payne, American singer and actress - on the Chris Scott Show, FM105 Down Community Radio, Wednesday 30th March and Wednesday 6th April 2022 (7 - 9pm)
Listen in to Chris in conversation with Freda Payne, an American singer and actress, known throughout the world for her most notable record, 1970 hit single, “Band of Gold“. She was also an actress in musicals and film, as well as the host of a TV talk show. Freda is the older sister of Scherrie Payne, a former singer with the American vocal group The Supremes. She was also married to American singer, composer and songwriter Gregory Abbott.
In part one (broadcast on Wednesday 30th March) Freda will be talking to Chris about her early life and influences in music. Chris discovers that her family tree has some Irish links!!
In part two (broadcast on Wednesday 6th April) she will be talking about her current music and recently released single Just To Be With You, described as a smooth jazz song about long distance relationships. Freda has duetted with some of the world's best known singers including Johnny Mathis and Sir Cliff Richard. Her latest jazz album features duets with Johnny Mathis, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Kurt Elling and Kenny Lattimore.
The programmes include music by Freda Payne.
