1Peter 3:15

But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect

• We Receive Gentleness
  
  • God is gentle with His children
    
    • Jesus gave multiple examples of gentleness

Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

• God’s love outweighs His wrath

Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.

For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ

• We Respond to Gentleness
  
  • Why do we respond?
    
    • God does not have to be gentle
      
    • We don’t deserve gentleness
      
    • Isaiah 40:11
      

He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.

    • So you can give to others
      
    • To separate you from the rest
      
  • All love doesn’t need to be tough

Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.

Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people.
