When David was fearful, doubting, and discouraged, Jonathan "strengthened his hand in God." God has given us a great blessing by allowing us to be part of a body that is designed to encourage and edify one another in times of need.

What does judgment look like? It can look like God removing His hand of restraint from someone's life, allowing them to do exactly what they want to do. As God removes His hand of restraint from Saul, he allows his paranoia and fear rule over him, leading him to commit genocide against the house of the Lord.…

David tries to protect himself from Saul in ways that does not depend on God, but in his own cleverness. However, the consequences of David's sinful lack of trust in the Lord lead to the death of many.

In our previous sermon we learned that we were to be faithful like a farmer, soldier, and athlete. This week we are told how to train our mind for that kind of service.

The apostle Paul gives Timothy three good examples on how to live the Christian life. The good soldier who aims to please the one who enlisted him. The athlete who wins the crown by competing according to the rules. The hard working farmer who is consistently faithful in the daily details of life.

Jesus adressing his disciples how to not fear laying down everything and leaving all wordly pleasures to seek the kingdom of God.

Jonathan and David display what godly friendship is supposed to look like. The only better picture of friendship in the Bible is seen in Jesus Christ, the friend who sticks closer than a brother.

El Shadai means God Almighty. This is one of God's ways to describe Himself. The promises that God makes to protect and preserve His people depends upon His omnipotent, divine power.

One way or another, the Lord will receive glory from every person who ever lived.

Sound Doctrine and Sound Living

John opens his gospel with a glorious description of the person and work of Jesus Christ. This sermon is given in three parts by the three elders of Levittown Baptist Church.

After slaying Goliath, David quickly rises to prominence in Israel. Everyone loves David. Everyone, that is, except Saul. Saul's jealousy results in multiple attempts to thwart God's perfect plan to remove Saul's line and replace him with someone better.

We are called by God to to raise our children in the way they should go. Handing them over to Caesar will intrinsically and aggressively counter that effort.

Does God ever regret His actions? if so, is it the same as our regret?

Today we engage with just a small portion of this chapter as we ask and answer the question, "Why does God command the annihilation of the Amalekites?"

In Mark 4:35-41, we are confronted with Jesus' divine authority, reserved only for God. He displays His might over creation simply by speaking and He confronts each of us to answer the question asked by the disciples: "Who is this man?" Believe and be saved from God's wrath.

The unity of the Church is of utmost importance to God. May we be "eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace" (Eph. 4:3), and obey biblical principles to mend relationships.

1 John 1:7 tells us that those of us who have been transferred from darkness to light by the blood of Christ, we must walk in the light and obey God's word, by being honest and accountable to other Christians.
