Psychotherapy and Women's Mental Health with mytherapistsaid.podcast
Manage episode 316179234 series 3273726
Deep Thoughts: Science and Social Justice is an interview podcast where we take a deep dive into the struggles, triumphs and personal stories of minorities in the sciences, arts and public service. The goal of these interviews is to have candid, first person conversations about the role of race, gender, and socioeconomic status in politics, the sciences and beyond. As you listen to these undocumented experiences, I hope we demonstrate the value of diversity and recognize the inequities that exist in the daily lives of minorities in this country. On this episode we will be talking to Lola and Carla 2 psychotherapists in training.
They host a podcast My therapist said, and is all about normalizing mental health issues and going to psychotherapy. Every week they bring a psychological topic to the table which they discuss, explain, interpret and then elaborate through the things they learn during their studies, personal life experiences as well as their own therapy.
On this episode, we will be having a broader discussion about the effect of toxic work environments in women’s mental health both short and long term. We may also be delving into imbalance of domestic labor, the gender pay gap, and importantly, the mental health burden of sexual harassment. This may be through a historic lens, psychoanalytic lens, or a cultural lens.
