Hello, Gems! Welcome to another episode of Tiaras and Tech. I’m your host, Shelley Benhoff, and today I’m talking about promoting mental health awareness. I am a huge supporter of mental health initiatives because I have struggled with anxiety and bipolar disorder all my life. In this episode, I will share with you a completely open discussion of my experiences with mental health disorders and how they have affected my career. This is also a good episode if you do not have mental health disorders and I will talk about how you can support people who do. I have to give you a trigger warning, I will be talking about sexual harassment, assault, and suicide. If you are struggling with your mental health, there are resources to help you. For the US, there is a list of resources on CDC.gov and nami.org (that's n-a-mi-i.org). There will be links to resources for other countries in the show notes. I think it’s really important that we talk about these things because no one pretends to struggle with mental illness if they have one. We pretend everything is ok when it’s not. You are not alone. I hope you find this episode informational and that it helps you understand mental illness.
