In this Episode:
Sherylle Bates converses with her happy hour partner Kishau and restaurant manager, Tony, about the benefits of happy hour and why everyone should do it. HH is a great way to put life on pause and purposely carve out time to unwind, vent, or celebrate. It's a reward for the hours spent working. My motto is “work hard, play harder.” Sit down with your favorite drink and good friends. You can meet at your favorite bar or restaurant, chill on the deck at a friend’s house, or even do it virtually. Regardless, Happy Hour = Whatever puts your mind at rest and makes you happy for at least an hour.
Topics discussed:
- Benefits of Happy Hour
- What to drink
- Finding the Perfect Bar or Restaurant = Finding the Perfect People
- The restaurant Bis
- Virtual Happy hour or HH during Covid Times
Memorable Quotes:
- “To decompress, to get a release, to unbutton the top button of the shirt and loosen the tie a little bit if you will. Have a drink and have a beer, or at the moment, just to hell with. Like hell with the moment. When you're having a hard day and “it's like hell with it, I need a drink.” - Tony
- “ Sometimes you just have to let it out, pop the air out. That's what I mean by therapy. You're not carrying it. You're not holding onto it the next day. Giving each other advice on things and it can run a gamut from family to work to “that co-worker.” It's a form of therapy. It really, really is.” - Sherylle.
- “Tony made a point about the types of conversations that people have. I'm the kind of introvert that I don't see the purpose of leaving my house if I'm going to have small talk with people. So that's why we have great conversation. I mean, I can talk to people at home, and I have people all around me all the time. And this is not a work thing, it's more from a social interaction standpoint, happy hours work best for me. ” - Kishau
- “And that's what happy hour means to me, the ability to just take a step away from life and just enjoy it. Take a moment in that present time, just to enjoy it, walk away from whatever else you're doing, and also have good drinks, meet good people and enjoy yourself. ” - Sherylle
