The Security Cabinet has approved plans to pave a new bypass road that will dramatically relieve traffic congestion between Jerusalem and Maaleh Adumim and also strengthen security. Over 350 million shekels has been allocated to build the road which will link the Palestinian villages of a-Zaim and al-Eizariya, thus diverting Arab vehicles from the main Highway 1 and checkpoints. Maaleh Adumim deputy mayor Brenda Horwitz-Prawer welcomed the move.
