People want to feel supported and safe at work – and inspired to innovate. What can people working at large corporations do to create this kind of environment? Saskia Mureau is the Director of Customer Digital at the Port of Rotterdam where she is harnessing digital systems to reduce emissions. She is passionate about creating inclusive workplaces where psychological safety and collaboration drive meaningful change. In this episode, Kamila sits down with Suchi to talk about why she chose to work at large corporations rather than startups. Saskia also reflects on her personal experiences, including navigating IVF while at work, and discusses how organizations can foster environments where employees feel empowered to bring their whole selves to work. Blackness is not a monolithic culture as displayed in the media. The diversity of the Black experience has a lot to do with where we’re raised. But what about when we migrate into a different country where the dynamics of race are different than how we learned to navigate our Blackness? How do we adapt? Do we assimilate? Millennial Blacks from the diaspora are finding themselves all over the globe as they migrate for school, life, work or to escape the cultural confines they experienced back home. As I interview Blacks across the world, we will look at how their identity is formed, experienced, accepted or rejected as we explore the intersectionality of culture and race. As the world becomes more global than ever, this podcast will allow us to see what is like to be Black when we are uprooted from our comfort zones.
