This episode I talk about faith. No, not religious faith or faith in a higher power. I talk about having faith in yourself and why that is so important to your success. I had an amazing conversation with award-winning indie filmmaker, Tucky Williams who talks about her film, Girl/Girl Scene and the controversy of having it removed from Amazon before having it relisted (thanks to pressure from fans of the film). We talk building an indie filmmaking family, always being nice (don't be an asshole), budgeting, resource filmmaking and a whole lot more. Tucky is amazing and I can't wait to have her drop by again. Here’s where you can find out all about Tucky and her projects: Tucky Williams Website Dagger Kiss Girl/Girl Scene Series Official Website Girl/Girl Scene Series Vimeo Girl/Girl Scene Movie If you have any comments or questions about the show, please stop by my Facebook page @howtheydiditpodcast I’m on twitter at @hfilmmaking and on Instagram at How They Did It: Filmmaking . I've discovered there are two main reasons why filmmakers don't make their own films; money and fear. I tackle both of those reasons and show why they're not the block you thought they were. This week I’m joined by filmmaker, Maureen Maloney. I urge you to subscribe to her web series, Girl Aspiring ; a documentary style series focusing on the success of woman in the workforce. It’s essential viewing for any parent with young children, especially girls. Maureen is also hard at work on her first full length documentary, Voice Of Vanilla , where she explores the difficult and dangerous process of vanilla cultivation in Madagascar through the eyes of the women who grow it. Further to that, she now hosts a podcast on her documentary journey called, appropriately me thinks, My Doc Journey . Find Maureen on Twitter @maureenleem Here’s where to find all of Maureen’s projects: Voice of Vanilla https://www.voiceofvanilla.com https://www.facebook.com/voiceofvanilla Girl Aspiring https://www.youtube.com/c/GirlAspiring https://www.facebook.com/girlaspiring/ My Doc Journey, podcast http://mydocjourney.com https://facebook.com//mydocjourney If you have any comments or questions about the show, please stop by my Facebook page @howtheydiditpodcast I’m on twitter at @hfilmmaking and on Instagram at How They Did It: Filmmaking . You've decided to make your film yourself and that's absolutely fantastic. Before you jump in with both feet, consider the benefits of resource filmmaking. You start right at the beginning of the process - your screenplay. Making a list of your resources will help you determine what story to tell and will keep that budget in check. If you have any comments or questions about the show, please stop by my Facebook page @howtheydiditpodcast I’m on twitter at @hfilmmaking and on Instagram at How They Did It: Filmmaking . Lately, in conversation with other filmmakers and in posts online, I’ve been hearing a lot of talk about doubt; doubting one’s self as a creative person, a writer, a filmmaker. I want to explore where that doubt comes from and hopefully give you some ways to overcome doubt in your life. If you have any comments or questions about the show, please stop by my Facebook page @howtheydiditpodcast I’m on twitter at @hfilmmaking and on Instagram at How They Did It: Filmmaking .
