A sad week in Kent non-league with the passing of Sheppey United manager Ernie Batten - his assistant manager and lifelong friend Geoff Record joins us to pay tribute to the man who was instrumental in bringing football back to the Isle of Sheppey, led the Ites to the FA Cup first round and so much more - Geoff tells us about Ernie the man, Ernie the player and his impact on the Island. On the field, there was a crucial win for Snodland Town at the foot of the SCEFL and manager Luke Jessup reflects on a great week for the club, the warm welcome he has received and hails his young backline after their first clean sheet of the season. On the flip side, it was a tough afternoon for Lordswood joint-boss Ross Wiles after his side came up short, and he admits they need to be better at both ends of the pitch after a result which leaves them deep in relegation trouble. The Southern Counties East League takes centre stage this week, with three interviews from our Step Five league - including two post-match on Wednesday night. It was a fine evening for VCD Athletic as they ran out 5-0 winners at Sutton Athletic, and with leaders Faversham dropping points, the title race is really hotting up - joint Vickers boss Danny Joy reflects on the win, bouncing back from their Vase heartache and the benefits of momentum. It was Sutton's first league loss in almost three months, and manager Pete Nolan, while disappointed with the loss, was able to reflect on a brilliant run for his side and looks ahead to continuing to progress in his first season at the club.
