Another huge week of football, and we start with exclusive breaking news from one of the county's longest-serving managers - hit play to find out the big gossip here first! It's been a devastating week for Canterbury City as their groundshare hopes fell through, leaving them without a home and opting to return to the city - but take voluntary relegation to the Kent County League in the process. Boss Dan Lawrence talks us through a rollercoaster week as he decides it's time to move on as well. Jay Saunders' Tonbridge Angels exit was already announced - but after his Folkestone appointment was revealed, he's now heading to the coast earlier than anticipated and the experienced manager tells us why now is the right time for hi to take the Invicta hotseat. And they're halfway there - Whitstable striker Nathan Jeche dares to dream of Wembley after helping his side to victory in their FA Vase semi-final first leg. We run through the rest of the big stories in the county and still find time for some chat and nonsense, including wondering if we ever see any of our listeners, Severance, trips to Spain and loads more besides. A sad week in Kent non-league with the passing of Sheppey United manager Ernie Batten - his assistant manager and lifelong friend Geoff Record joins us to pay tribute to the man who was instrumental in bringing football back to the Isle of Sheppey, led the Ites to the FA Cup first round and so much more - Geoff tells us about Ernie the man, Ernie the player and his impact on the Island. On the field, there was a crucial win for Snodland Town at the foot of the SCEFL and manager Luke Jessup reflects on a great week for the club, the warm welcome he has received and hails his young backline after their first clean sheet of the season. On the flip side, it was a tough afternoon for Lordswood joint-boss Ross Wiles after his side came up short, and he admits they need to be better at both ends of the pitch after a result which leaves them deep in relegation trouble. Chatham Town continued their good form with victory at Dover and boss Kevin Hake discusses the battle for the play-off places and the importance of finishing the season strongly even if they don't make it. There's all the rest of the news from across the county after a busy week, with a rare win for Ebbsfleet United and a change in the dugout at Welling United, plus a potentially crucial points deduction at the top of the SCEFL. And we've still got the usual chat and nonsense too, including car washes, five years on since lockdown and the end of the 5.30am disco mystery... Hosted on Acast. The Southern Counties East League takes centre stage this week, with three interviews from our Step Five league - including two post-match on Wednesday night. It was a fine evening for VCD Athletic as they ran out 5-0 winners at Sutton Athletic, and with leaders Faversham dropping points, the title race is really hotting up - joint Vickers boss Danny Joy reflects on the win, bouncing back from their Vase heartache and the benefits of momentum. It was Sutton's first league loss in almost three months, and manager Pete Nolan, while disappointed with the loss, was able to reflect on a brilliant run for his side and looks ahead to continuing to progress in his first season at the club. Also relatively new to the dugout is Micky Phillips - but the Larkfield & New Hythe chief has already led his charges into a cup final. He looks back at their penalty win at Bearsted, ahead to the season run-in and discusses the club's ambitious new stadium plans. Dover's wait for a home win goes on, and it's now three straight defeats after losing to Whitehawk - manager Jake Leberl gives us his thoughts. There's all the rest of the news from across the county, plus we talk mini-breaks, stomach bugs, EastEnders and more besides. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.…

Another busy week in the county with more managerial changes and lots of action on the pitch. Lots of postponements, but plenty of talking points - and lots of exciting action from the games that were played. Maidstone United continued their great run of form as they brushed aside Enfield, with Shaq Coulthirst coming off the bench to grab a hat-trick - and the experienced frontman reflects on that treble, the Stones' continued impressive run and his hopes for the rest of the season. Hollands & Blair staged a superb late comeback to beat Whitstable on Tuesday night and boss Darren Blackburn is a happy man - he talks that win, increasing the experience in his squad and how he couldn't turn down the chance to help out a club that means so much to him. Four sides have applied to join the SCEFL for next season, and the chairman of one of them, Minster, tells us about their ambitions and explains the process behind trying to move up to Step 6. We are back for another year of football chat and questionable banter - and we start with three top interviews at the end of the busy festive period. Top billing goes to Sittingbourne, who caused another upset in the FA Trophy by beating Salisbury to set up a trip to Southend - defender and man of the match Jack Steventon discusses that win, the good feeling at the club and team-mates helping to get the floodlights back on. Faversham have returned to top spot in the SCEFL after battling to victory at Corinthian - Lilywhites assistant boss Alex O'Brien reflects on that win, looks ahead to a big game this weekend and discusses his side's title hopes. But it was frustration for the Hoops, whose manager Michael Golding admits his side need to tighten up at the back, and rues the way they let their lead slip so quickly. There's all the rest of the news from across the county, including two SCEFL managerial exits, and all the usual chat and nonsense, including Gavin & Stacey, the lurgy, snow and some absolute filth from a pensioner...
