Smart Business Solutions chief executive Shannon Smit talks about the evolution of her business and shares her insights on complex SMSF planning issues. After recently taking out SMSF Adviser of the Year at the Women in Finance Awards, Shannon discusses how she first she started her business and how it has grown over the past 15 years. Shannon talks about how she first fell in love with SMSFs after undertaking a property development through a 13.22C unit trust in her own fund and some of the many technical strategies she’s dealt with for clients since then. She discusses how being able to offer clients a holistic planning service across financial advice, accounting and mortgage lending has been a significant competitive advantage and some of the other unique elements of her business. With Smarter Business Solutions primarily focused on business owners in their 30s and 40s, Shannon highlights some of the unique aspects to servicing this demographic and the types of strategies that work for these clients.
