Shoemaker. Shoemaker was Pennsylvania's first state Folklorist, prolific author and preservationist who is responsible for shaping much more about our modern idealition of the people, places and stories we love. While the origins of some of Shoemaker's stories don't hold up to modern academic standards, the passion and perspective for the people and places he championed can't be called into question.
