No matter how technical you may or may not be, there is one thing that everyone knows: backup the data files you care about  .

We recommend the 3-2-1 backup philosophy which means that you have 3 copies of your data on two physical storage devices with one copy that exists off-site, such as an online backup service like Carbonite.  T

hat means that your primary copy lives on your computer's hard drive, the second copy lives on an external hard drive connected to your computer and a third copy is stored in the cloud.

If you do this, it covers every possible data loss scenario that we are aware of at this point in time.
